I appreciated the decor and the theatrical presentation of each guide. He felt he would have liked to see more of the actual house. For my husband, he found because the Halloween tour was done at night and it was dark that he was missing out on seeing some of the actual architecture and features of the house. They even had real looking "fake" snow blowing in the courtyard. Very neat experience, and our tour guid was great It is a little pricey in my opinion. The "actors" and singers in various rooms were great and the very tall "Santa Claus" was very realistic.
For the Christmas holidays it seemed every room had a lit up tree, each decorated in different themes. in San Jose, the Queen Anne Style Victorian mansion is renowned for its size, its architectural curiosities, and its lack. The decorations for both holidays were very good. I found both to be very well done! Each tour guide for both events was very much in character with excellent "acting" skills to make us feel they were real assistants of Sarah Winchester. Now, at age 59, I went to Winchester Mystery House twice in 2016! I had never been to the Halloween evening tour or the Holiday/Christmas tour. I have lived in San Jose my entire life and went to Winchester Mystery long ago in grade school.
